Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Imposter party game app (the "App") collects, uses, and shares information when you play.
What the App is
Imposter is a multiplayer word game. You can play offline on one device, or play online by creating a lobby and having friends join with a game code.
Information we collect
- Player name (nickname): the name you type in to create or join an online game.
- Game data: game code, game settings (mode, category, max rounds, max players), rounds, clues you submit, votes you cast, and scores.
- Reports: if you report an inappropriate clue, we store the report (the clue id and who reported it) to help us moderate the game.
- On-device settings: language and sound effects preference are saved on your device.
- Purchase information: if you buy Premium, the purchase is processed by Apple and our purchase provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive your full payment details (like your credit card number).
How we use information
- To run online lobbies and gameplay (show players, clues, votes).
- To prevent abuse and respond to clue reports.
- To enable Premium features and verify entitlements.
- To maintain and improve the App.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information.
- With other players: in an online game, your player name, clues, votes (during counting), and score are shared with other players in the same lobby.
- Service providers: we use third-party services to host the App and enable purchases (for example, our hosting/database provider and RevenueCat). These providers process data on our behalf to provide their services.
- Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Data retention
Online game data is stored to keep the lobby and rounds working. We aim to keep data only as long as needed for gameplay and operations, and we may delete inactive games over time.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children's privacy
The App is a party game and is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal information, please use the developer contact details listed on our App Store product page and we'll work to delete it.
Your choices
You can choose what name you use in-game. You can also leave an online lobby at any time.
